Over the first half of this semester I have learned a lot about what it means to be an entrepreneur. Professor Pryor has helped me to develop many skills in this short time that I hope to continue working on for the remainder of the semester and into the future to help push my career goals to greater heights. Opportunity identification and creativeness are two of the key traits I have been able to develop in this course and I think they will prove to be very useful in life. During the elevator pitch assignment, however, I felt like giving up because understanding how to post a video on YouTube was a battle in its own regard. I was able to pull through though because of how badly I wanted to keep my grade high and eventually I was able to post my video despite the websites complicated features. My three tips that I would give to next semester's students are to do your work early, watch the videos so you can ace the cupcakes at the end of each week, and work on developing the traits that are important to yourself and the ones that you think you can utilize the best moving forward.

1)
The thing that surprised me the most about the biography shoe dog was the creativeness of the entrepreneur. I thought he did a good job on his project and worked very hard to become successful with their idea. I most admired the entrepreneur's work ethic and ability to identify key elements to making a successful business plan. I least admired the Entrepreneur's ability to target a market segment. I felt as though this part was a bit under developed and could have acted as a catalyst to the entire operation. I liked how the entrepreneur continued to persevere even though the business did not always look like it was going to be easy to maintain.
2)
I thought the entrepreneur showed a lot of moxie and exhibited a ton of dedication which are core competencies needed to be a successful entrepreneur.
3)
I was a bit confused by the name of the book. shoe makes the business sound like it is a dog yet realistically it was a star, prime for making profit.
4)
I would ask where they were able to develop their conviction. many times I feel great plans are abandoned to early yet most of the great entrepreneurs are able to overcome uncertainty with conviction. I would also ask what they believe was the reason for their success. Even though this question can produce a biased answer I would like to know what they attribute most to their success that wasn't written in the book.
5)
I believe the entrepreneur believes hard work is essential to success in anything, a business and life in general.

Because I have decided to open a hair cut service and I am best at cutting men's hair, I decided to pick teenage and adult men as my target segment. Unfortunately, my idea can not be simply locked into a more specific segment because the service is so simply. Fortunately my idea is essential enough that I can still derive a lot of profit, despite the generic nature of the service. I interviewed three of my friends with worst haircuts to figure out when it is the need for a haircut becomes most prevalent in their lives in order to figure out if their needs are similar and if I am able to adjust my business plan to better fit the universal unmet need among my target segment. From my interviews, I was able to determine that the majority of people with unseemly hair cuts face many of the same problems: a less professional look than desired, roasted by their friends often, increased time it takes to style their hair into a look that they do not even like. Usually my client base is very aware of their need as it is hard to forget what one's hair looks like. However, when the need becomes overwhelming the haircuts received usually only bring the length back to an adequate, but not acceptable length. Additionally, clients go back to the same hair dresser often and ask for the same thing. Not reallly putting much research into improving the situation. From my interviews, I can conclude that my clients are looking for an easy way to get their hair cut. My service where I come to them can address this want as well as fix the need of a bad hair style as I am so incredibly talented at what I do.

I am Jacob Bobet, and I am going into my fourth year at UF as an accounting major. I am a very talented man so it would take more than a single assignment to describe all the skills I possess. So, to keep things short, many people have called me a renaissance man because I am able to do so many things at such a high level. I have worked at large firms like Raymond James, mid sized firms like WithumSmith, and small firms such as BKC. My aspirations are to provide my local area with hair cuts. So starting a hair cutting business that comes to the client would help to to achieve my aspirations.
2)
I am offering a hair cutting service to customers, however instead of having to go to a barbershop, my service will go to the client. we will focus on quality yet maintain affordability. Customers in my area are developing a tendency to avoid pubic places due to the corona virus as well as increased wait times at barbershops that have reopened. My service will take care of those unmet needs by reducing wait times while maintaining social distance from the comfort of the clients own home.

Who: Although many people in my area have gone without a hair cut, I believe my opportunity comes from the people who value getting their hair cut and styled. After interviewing five different people I have come to the conclusion that although many people may see the need to get a haircut, there is a large faction who do not.

What: Based on the interviews I conducted for this assignment it became clear that many people do not see the need to get a hair cut as important as the need to social distance during the Covid-19 pandemic. So this need does not differ based on whether people think they need a hair cut or need something else. Rather, my opportunity differs on whether or not people value getting a haircut during the times we are experiencing right now as a society.

Why: People inside this boundary have made the decision that getting a haircut is more important than social distancing and the underlying reason for why people need haircuts doesn't differ. People outside the boundary don;t value getting their hair cut.

Inside the boundary                                                  Outside the boundary
Who is in:

People who value getting their hair cut
Who is out:

People who do not want to get a haircut at this time due to the corona virus
What the need is:

The need to get a haircut
What the need is not:

People who want to social distance do not want this
Why the need exists:

People grow hair and would like it to be cut.
Why the need does not exist:

Because the corona virus requires us to social distance

In my area many people are still without haircuts, even though barbershops have begun to reopen. This is due to the phased reopening efforts limiting capacity in barbershops which causes wait times to skyrocket and pushes many customers away. So I see an opportunity to run a service where people text me to cut their hair in the comfort of their own home, rather than deal with the long wait times in barbershops. I think this opportunity can prove to be successful in the short term based on the interviews I have conducted in prior assignments in addition to conversations with friends and family. Further, I think this idea can be successful long term because the more people get used to someone coming to their house to cut their hair the less they are willing to go out and wait at a barbershop, regardless of how little the wait times are.
